Suggestions on all levels...

If you don't want chicks or eggs to hatch broodies are a pain to break. I have wyandottes, my HATCHERY...mind you which are suppose to go broody less often has gone 3 times....hatched babies both times first time decided she was sick of them so I had to brood them. My 1 year old breeder wyandotte isn't even a year old and is MOODY BROODY for 2 months now...no end in sight. Thus being said while wyandottes are GREAT for personality...bad for broodies and I'm not very impressed with egg size with either breeder or hatchery. Wellsummers are awesome for egg size, color and they don't tend to go broody often.

I never looked up a Wellsummer till it was mentioned. It sounds like a nice breed. Will they handle the colder NH weather? I like that they are not so broody.
So, I am looking at purchasing from someone...don't know which hatchery yet, 2 RIR, 2 Barred Ply Rock, 2 EE, and perhaps 2 Wellsummer. Also, hoping I don't end up with a roo.
With small grandkids I would rather not have one and most people have suggested against it being a future, first timer, flock owner.

I love wellies...I lived in montana and had them it gets wicked cold there as for Roo's I'm a true believer in upbringing...I have 3 BIG roosters my big boy is 10lb Brahma Rooster....Just weighed him lol. I have a 4 year old and a 2 year old, my other two have just peaked into puberty....and they love the kids never had an issue with any of them.
