Hi... I have had my chickens since May and am doing well. I want to travel a bit for a day or two at a time, but my coop is outdoors and they free range. I live in an area with snakes, coyotes, fox, opossum, raccoons and of course rats. I need an idea to secure them in an enclosed area, that I can put my coop in, but can leave open so they can get out in the morning....
Suggestions please! Trying to keep the birds safe without breaking my wallet. I have some chain linked fencing ,,(not panels)...

Putting up a temporary fence/enclosure with stakes, staples and chicken wire (not chain link) is better than nothing and not extremely pricey, but I'm afraid anything thrown together will not protect them from much for long. If it's just overnight, you'll probably be ok depending on how many predators you typically have.

Investing in a chicken tractor is a good idea! (Hopefully some more experienced chicken people will chip in on this.) There is a big price range, and custom ones are easy to build. You can probably even get one second hand from somewhere for a good deal if you look and ask around.

I keep mine locked in the run and free range them with supervision

If you're going to leave the coop pop door open, and have those kinds of predators, it's not going to be cheap to keep them safe.
You'll need 1/2" Hardware Cloth, backed by heavier mesh, from roof to apron to keep them all out.
