Hi,
I posted 4 weeks ago today when we found our them 11 week old cock lame on one leg.
Three days later he wasn't using either. Since, we have had him on anti-biotics for about 2 -21/2 weeks (just coming off this past Friday or so). At first we could find no external symptoms as far as bumblefoot, obvious broken bone, etc., but later it seemed that his right hock might have been warmer & swollen some compared to other.
He just these past 3 days or so wants to get around a bit more (but is in dog crate in house except when we take him out for awhile in yard) & is using the left leg. The right foot or leg seems to be the problem. He gets up with other & lets the right hang down some..kind of almost 'pawing' at the ground w/the right foot as if he'd like to set it down, but can't (or is too painful?) for some reason.
Are most broken bones...toes, leg, etc. pretty obvious?
Could it be a sprain/strain with part of that leg & will just take time?
As I mentioned before, we were planning on giving him away, but it's hard to just euthanize a seemingly somewhat healthy chicken.
IF anyone has time or a thought, we appreciate.
We are definitely new to this, getting this batch of 11 in early June this year.
Thanks so much!
