That, my friend, remains to be seen. The only reason he is IN college is because he was told be in school or have a job by 2/16 or pull up a cardboard box on the side of the road and call it home.

ETA: All the kids over 18 and out of high school were given the same ultimatum (sp?)

Being your son, maybe he did both.

Seriously, GOOD for HIM!!

Teehee, my first thought! Put down the club, Debi, and tell your son he's one of the good guys!

Happy for your son that he had a chance to do this.It is a terrible shame that some people abuse their positions with children.People like her should be reported when they say such things. Many children take a less used path, but turn out just fine....if not better than those deemed *star students*. Best wishes for your son!

when i had my first daughter i was 16 and was kicked out of my church (was in private school through the church.. making the tuition cheaper. but when not a member the tuition goes back to what it normally would be) anyway, so i could no longer go to the private school since my mom couldn't afford it. since that was no longer an option we looked at the local public schools and my mom went to sign me up for one and hearing my last name, the principal said, "we don't like trouble makers and we dont want them here".. apparently my uncles caused quite the stir(and i already knew this) my mom had to tell him id not cause trouble.. had to convince him that i wasn't trouble. and i wasnt. i was a great student. I lettered in Acedemics. had a 3.98 GPA. i had a few *minor* collisions with friends.

I love making people eat their words. my principal may never know the damage he caused by saying that to my mom in front of me. made me feel little in his eyes, like i was not good enough to attend his school when he had no idea who i am, just by looking at my name.

so i do wish and hope that some teachers/principals would get their heads out of their butts and realize what they say. lol.
