Suitable Grounding for Coop

Hi

What do people put on the chicken coop floor?

I am currently using hard wood chip which costs a fortune...

And how often do you change the flooring and how do you keep it clean?

Do a search for deep litter here. I use pine shavings, leaves, and hay in my coop. I sometimes add some mulch. I then rake it out to the coop after about 6 months.

I don't purchase my mulch, but I get it free from tree trimming services.

I currently use wood chips but they're free for me since we're just chipping our own tree trimmings.

I use straw, pine shavings, and leaves from my yard since I have an over abundance of trees.
