My original pullet has been giving me chicks that look like this. I think it is blue wheaten, but I'm not sure. There are parts of the chick that look very dark slate like you would normally see on a wheaten bird. Then there are these areas that are distinctly blue...is this just how wheaten feathers out? Or is this actually blue wheaten?

Hmmmm . . . . .

Twice this week I've gotten five eggs in one day. The pen has four adult hens I purchases at POL (23+ weeks), though older now, and two pullets that are 17 weeks. So do you think I have an early layer or one that's giving me extras?

One of mine gave me two eggs in one day! The second one was soft shelled, but it was still pretty neat. I know it was two from one hen because she was in a pen by herself.

You could separate your youngest for a week and see if you still get 5 or if the pullets lay. Then you'll know whether one is just laying super early or not...

Overoberyl, I think you have a blue wheaten. JMO.

Thanks! I think my one pullet must be a splash wheaten because it certainly isn't the roo and she doesn't look obviously blue unless you really look and lift up some of her feathers...

Yes, there are blue wheatens in the US... I think it was a pleasant surprise that the line carries the blue so often.
