Sulmtalers Thread

Yes, that would be an interesting project for sure. The only thing holding me back on Bresse was their temperament compared to Sulmtaler. Which is why I chose this breed.

I'm getting close to harvest time so, we see how they turn out.

I have eggs available. They're still pullet size but hatch great. I get two eggs a day so I can't do large orders.

Wanted to intro and say hey all. Picked up some chicks from CJ at Jacobs Cave about a month or so ago and really impressed with how they are doing - not to mention the gorgeous adult pair she brought along. Met again this weekend and got to bring home more chicks and adult pair. Can't say enough good things about Candy or her birds and appreciate her help in establishing my foundation both in Sulmtalers and Legbars.

Still wiped out from the road trip and getting every one settled but more pictures WILL follow.

Arrrrrrghhh! I confes I loathe FB, MS and social media in general. However, there is definately press work that needs to be done to get information on this wonderful breed out there. I'll stumble and fumble on out tho - thanks for the welcome and the invite!

OK, Oldest 2 pair from Candy via Widget Creek.
Adults: (+1)

Juvie Pair:

As primarily a homesteader type, these have to be hard to beat for dual purpose poultry for those with that interest. Can't believe how fast the juvies are growing - then when put next to the adults, whoaaaah, these are big birds! Was great being able to have the extra roo and intro the juvies and not have them bullied to death as is more typical with poultry.
I REALLY like this breed!

I'm looking at chicks and juvies growing so fast and looking at young adults and I'm curious as to what is typical of coloration developing? Would you Sulmtaler folks have picture records of this?

Here's an adult picture - gorgeous! Second roo (back to cam) is more red-red. Trying to learn how typical immatures feather out into adult patterns and coloration. Other's observations would be appreciated!

And here's a young boy:

And him again 4 & 5 weeks later.

He had more than typical splashes of white plummage - so much so we wondered if he might be splash (possibility of bluw Xbluw).
