It is so easy to lose track of how many birds I am working with andI recently had someone on one of the facebook pages ask me how many sumatras we have here. I was out (trying to) count them this morning and I counted 24-25 largefowl hens (4 duns, 2 blues, the rest black), a total of 6 large fowl roosters (2 dun, 4 black). For bantams, there are at least 20 hens which I know we have 3 platinum, 2 good dun, 1 dun cull, and the rest are blue or black. For bantam males, we have 1 dun (looking good so far), 1 black cockerel, and a new black rooster. So when I told them we had around 50-55 sumatras total, they told me that was the largest group they heard of. In person, it doesn't really seem like that many but once you start counting them, they add up real quick. They are the farms main breed, followed by production wyandottes, legbars, marans, phoenix, faverolles, hamburgs, and a few other bits and pieces.
lol Same boat here, I refuse to count my birds, as I know there are actually more then what I think I have.I recently had someone on one of the facebook pages ask me how many sumatras we have here.
