One of my older girls (2+ years) seems to be going into a mild summer molt. She had her first molt in the fall of last year and now seems to be losing feathers again. Otherwise she seems healthy in every other way. Possible or could something else be going on?

Most of my chickens are going through molt right now. Must be the hot weather. Normally mine molt in the Fall and Spring. When I rake the coops, it looks like something has been in there and had a fight with a feather pillow.

Yes it is molt more than likely, some people I know who show chickens only show fall to winter because their chickens molt in the spring/ summer

Thanks, guys. I feel better now. Yes it does make sense to molt in the warmer weather...

I think my girls are molting right now too, and I notice that they are the ones that aren't panting. I just made a bunch of moves in my coops switching girls and roos around, and stress can throw them into a molt too. I think it's a great time at least for me and my egg production.
