Sun light & dark coop Question?????

Not sure where to post this the question is , Should I have a lot of windows in my coop for light? I was told the chicks need sun light to lay eggs. I was also told they like darkness to lay there eggs. Wich one is right? Any helpin this matter would be helpfull . Thanks Scotty

Light coop with dark nest boxes.

There, how's that.

I have a sky light in my coop in addition to the two windows.

I also have covered nest boxes which makes it darker for them in there and gives them privacy.

They like a bright coop, with a dark cozy nesting box to lay eggs in.

THE WINDOWS ARE IMPORTANT FOR LIGHT AND VENTILATION ( NOT DRAFTS)
AND YES YOU CAN COVER THE NEST BOX HOLES WITH A PIECE OF ROOFING
that can be cut into strips from vinyl or rubber shingles
