Today we finifhed our coop and run so we moved our 5 week old chicks out there for the day. They will come back into the brooder for the night.

Anyway. I noticed all of our chicks doing this. When the sun was behind a cloud they would run around eating bugs etc. But then the sun would come out again and they would flop down on their sides with their wings pulled up showing thsir still featherless undersides. Many times they would close their eyes. The beginning looks a bit like a dust bath. Then the sun would go back behind a cloud and they would be back to business. Are they sunbathing?
