sunflower seed ??

Hi, I've seen a lot of posts mentioning feeding black oil sunflower seeds for various things. Would that be with or without the shells?

I'm assuming 'with' since these are usually sold with the bird seed, and surely nobody sits around and shells them first for their chickens!

I buy the 50# bags of Black Oil Sunflower Seed at Walmart, it has the shell. My girls love them and eat shell and all, no problem.

Assuming the same here. I Feed mine a wild bird mix for treats. Friend works in a supply house and a few bags got ...uh....damaged..so I got them. My Roo especially likes em..
