This year I want to grow a bunch of sunflowers for the chickens. I gather I would save the heads and then feed them to them on occasion during the winter. It would also just be nice to have some sunflowers around. But I'm not sure what variety for grow. Anybody have suggestions? I'd love to try a few, maybe some dwarf ones too. I've been seeing "pollen free" on some varieties - does this mean something about the seeds? I'd just like to make sure whatever I grow has a good number of seeds!

Any variety will do. Black Oil (BOSS) is the most used for chickens and other birds. I put Sunflowers at the end of each planting of sweet corn, but I never have any to store. The wild birds clean them up. Pollen free? I can't imagine that they would produce large amounts of seed.
