I have noticed some of my flock laying on their sides one wing spread in the sun. It’s 90+ degrees there otherwise normal is this common? They don’t appear heat stressed just seem to be enjoying the day.

My hens and pullets do it. But not to long when temps are in the eighties, and rarely in the nineties. 20190602_102719-2.jpg . This time of year they catch some rays in the morning, before its too hot, like Precious. GC

My Cochin will do this too, and we live in central FL where it's easily 95. I did stop her from doing it because the UV index was 11+ and her feathers were hot to the touch. Just scooted her to the shade. She only does it when it's super hot out! I don't get it.

This has always blown my mind......but I see it often.
As long as they are not panting, I leave them to it...but SHM.

I assumed it was a case of sunning themselves but, wow, it catches you off guard at first!

The sunshine has been sporadic for the last couple weeks. I noticed this a few days ago. First one then half the flock.
