I just bought 6 black peeps and was wonderind if any of you have had any from sunnyside hatchery in Wi. After getting them and looking at SL's online mine looked different,so i called the hatchery and was told they use a diffrent cross than the normal RI roo & BR hen, but was a egg machine. These are for my grandkids to raise and was wondering on there temperment from a owner.Thank Rick: P.S.There BSL is called a special black

I just got 11 myself and was wondering the samething, They are 4 days old now. What kind of breeds are these (special blacks) close to? I asked them they really didnt give me an answer.

Mine are Buff Orpington dad over BR hen and they just started laying. One lays darker brown eggs like a BR, and one lays lighter brown almost-BO colored eggs. My 3 are good pets, and the cockerel isn't mean.
