RT Goth Barn
Chirping
Good morning yall! Super stoked to become a member! I'm just gonna follow the template because that seems the easiest!
I am new to chickens! I got my first chick about 4 weeks ago- was at the farm store to get some plant supplies and as usual stopped to look at all the babies. One was not doing well (no movement- getting stomped on and pecked at and still no movement, but i could see she was still breathing) and my husband and I didn't have the heart to leave her in there to get pecked at so I took her home to give her some love until it was over- but instead I was able to nurse her back to health! She's a big strong 5 week old now- teenage attitude but still a mommas girl!
Once she was in better health we got her some friends so we now have 7 Chickens!
our first chick was from a "hatcherys choice" bin (we call it chicken soup cause theyre all mixed together) but we believe she may be an easter egger! Then we have 2 more EEs, a Dominique (previously had 2- one passed), a Saphire Gem, and two more chicken soup chicks- one is still a mystery but we are slowly narrowing down the breed of the other!
My favorite part of raising back yard chickens (well they are house chickens right now
) is just watching them mingle, having them all take as on me, and finding new cool things to give them for recreation or our upcoming mini goth barn coop!
As for my other hobbies- I'm just an all around creator! I own a mystic shop where I make everything from hand soldered jewelry to herbal mixtures, to planters, moss walls, to even some furniture and home decor. Outside of work I'm enjoying some home decorating (in the middle of a rainforest bathroom and a enchanted forest bedroom) I live to create and build!
My family is mostly occupied by animals
my husband and I moved into his family home where his mother was living alone, so I like to think she's a little less lonely now. We have 2 dogs and a turtle with another dog coming for a home visit this weekend!
I found BYC over and over while doing extensive research on chickens (I am neurodivergent so I heavily research everything
) and today I finally decided since I find all the best info here I might as well join instead of lurk in the shadows
I am always here to take or give advice if anybody needs me!
Heres an almost up to date picture of our chicken family/flock- we are still working on mastering the perfect family photo
