I am so sorry, I've been reading this, but I don't know what it could possibly be.

I would say, if she passes and you can afford it, have a necropsy done by a state vet. The costs vary by state, if what I read on here is correct....

Sorry I just saw this. She may have egg yolk peritonitis and be laying internally. That always accounts for severe weight loss at the end, though she is very, very young. Usually, it hits after two years of age, but I did lose one who was just bit over a year old to it. They end up bones and feathers, no meat at all.

Or, she could have some internal defect, like a heart defect or liver malfunction. Really, it's hard to be definitive.

Please read my blogpost from today, as I just made the difficult decision to euthanize a hen. If your hen is skinny, there is something very wrong and I'm sure incurable. I've been doing necropsies on my hens and I have seen truly horrendous diseases inside of older hens. I have yet to see worms. I've never seen an "egg bound" hen, but I've seen cancer, tumors, impactions and infections. Trust me, euthanizing an ill hen is a kindness. So sorry.

Thank you everyone who answered here. Unfortunately, not long after I posted, she passed away. Luckily, I was there, but it was still hard...

I considered doing a necropsy for about two seconds, but couldn't bear it... Probably not the smartest thing, but she was a pet and my pets are my children. I already feel like this was my fault because I couldn't help her. I couldn't bear to put her little body through anything else.
