Can I feed these to my chickens? They grow up to 2inches long so quite a bit bigger than meal worms and from what i've heard they can bite??

if they are super meal worms you have to cut thier heads off before you give them to biddies, they can actually eat through thier craw so i read but i use to give meal worms to button quail and had no probs, i guess they know to kill them first like wild birds do....i'd give them 1 and see if they bite the head first....who's gonna take the time to cut off worms heads???not me, ugh....hope this helps....

You can by smaller meal worms and they are fine. I never use the super worms due to they are gross.

For the most part, when a bird picks up a piece of food, they "bite" it first in the tip of their beak. Whether they're actually biting or just readjusting the food, I'll never know. The superworms may be larger, but they also require more maintenance. From my research, you need to put them into small containers (like the bead organizers, pill bottles or film canisters) individually to get them to morph. This, along with the possibility of them being dangerous to pets if you don't execute them first, is why I never ventured into raising them. I may do it simply for experience, since I like raising most other cultures...

I bought these worms from the pet store yesterday and was hoping to give my chickens a treat today, then after finding this thread I an now wary. So we actually have to chop off their heads. :barnienow I'm really worried. Has anyone here ever done this, hoping for a reply :bow

I’ve never fed them, but they can bite. My girls have taken out very large crickets before, and they mangle it before eating it. I would think adult birds would do fine with super worms. If it does bite the bird, they could freak. I read in another post to try one and see how they do.
