I have some chicks that are somewhere between 3 and 4 weeks. They are feathered but not completely. I have a heat lamp in their brooder for them that keeps the temp between 75-80. There is a place for them to get away from the lamp. I’m finding more and more staying away from the lamp while some are still under it a bit. The question I have is how long do I have to do a heat lamp for I feel like they are starting to outgrow my brooder and today I found one on top of it. It is only half covered on top. I was wondering if it was still too cold to go out to the grow out coop. The temperature in my area is between the 70s and 80s (high of 90) this week and the lowest temp at night will be 55. I have the ability to run a heat lamp to their new coop. I just worry about a potential fire hazard. And it being outside I worry about something happening at night with it. Any suggestions thoughts will help.

A huddle box being a exactly what it sounds like a box with bedding that’s big enough and deep enough for them all to pile into towards the back
