HI! I am still pretty new to quail raising - this is my first year with them. I have this one coturnix who I noticed had lost a little weight. She has been laying eggs even though I have reduced her light a bit, so I thought it might be from that. I got her some new crumbles with more protein, and some sunflower seeds for a little fat, and I wanted to try giving her mashed up hard-boiled eggs, as I have read from some of the posts here. So what does she do? She dust-bathes in them! Absolutely uninterested in eating them. I tried poking my finger in them to get her interested, which worked for dead mealworms and the new waterer, but nothing. Does anyone here have any idea on getting her to try eggs? Otherwise I think I will give it up - after all, that's a lot of effort to mash them up just for her to roll in them...

If she sees the others eating them, maybe she will catch on. She may just not care for eggs. :)

That is hilarious :) I hope you find a way to persuade her to eat them. How about mixing it with something else she finds tasty? She might get a mouthful by accident and realise egg is yummy.
