Supplements in water ?

Looking for advice on adding supplements to brooder water ?
I've seen adding sugar, vinegar mentioned ... what is the advantage of adding vinegar to chicks water ?

sugar is for energy

if adding vinegar, it should be unfiltered apple cider vinegar.. the advantage for that is the potassium.

These, or vitamin supplements are often recommended, especially for chicks that have been shipped.
