I'm sorry you're having such troubles with your Nankins.

The way to find out what the vet lab needs for a proper necropsy is to call them and ask (explain what you suspect the problem is, then ask if it matters whether the bird dies naturally or is euthanized, and if euthanasia is ok then is there a particular method you need to use or avoid). Don't google, just call them, they can tell you CORRECTLY.

I am not grasping why you cannot just drop the breeder a line and say you think this problem is occurring, without needing documentation and paperwork and all. I can't help but feel there is a LOT of other story here we're not getting. It really does not need to be a big "thing"...

Sorry to hear about your situation.. but:

For the post mortem, you should let the bird die naturally, any "methods" might change the blood chemestry if they are doing a bloodgas study.
Carbon dioxide would be prefered.. administered in a enclosed container starting at 3% and increasing it SLOWLY. to 7%. It is a very Gradual increase, it causes the critters to fall asleep slowly and with out disturbance of the force..

Then bag and chill in refridge. contact your state Ag Extension department. they can provide you with the number of the proper authority to conduct the pm.

then get certified letter to the breeder...

I did show her the video of my first nankin that was dying,
this was when i was buying more eggs from her and had no clue that it was/or could be a genetic thing
I still have the email that she sent me back that said that she had one that did the same thing
it really sux being married to a lawyer, i mean the money that he brings home is great, but he told me that i could be sued for stuff. its not that im afraid of a lawsuit but the woman is a breeder, and we have money. i had to settle lawsuits in the past because of what i do for a living and sometimes its cheaper to pay the person off rather than go through a lengthy expensive trial

Why would someone want to sue you? for telling them that they might have a genetic problem with their breeding stock?

I dont follow why someone can hold you SUITWORTHY?
Especially if you have clinical documentation.

Ask Bob. he said that if their business goes down they can accuse anyone of anything. bob said that anyone can file a lawsuit against anyone. then we would have to file a dermurrer. one just doesnt know what another person is going to do

further you also looked at the chick that couldnt get off its back after it hatched for three days
again you said that it looked genetic and that it goes to parentage

i stand by all of that.

i'm just saying the results of the necropsy could be beneficial to the breeder and to the future chicks that WILL come from that breeder.
a short non-offending note with the results should suffice. let Bob read it or write it for you if y'all are worried about you getting inflammatory or emotional about the situation or something. just say something to the effect that you just wanted to share the results you got since he/she had mentioned having a chicken with the same affliction. the breeder will probably offer some sort of reimbursement and you can tell him/her thats not necessary you just wanted to share the results.

or you could just get the results and move on.

i would avoid any kind of emotional or hostile conversations of any type with the breeder tho, for sure. especially via email as people often come across the wrong way and/or are taken the wrong way. you know how that goes. Bob is right about people being suehappy these days but you will probably not be satisfied until you let the person know what you found out. as long as you aren't slandering his/her reputation as a breeder everything should be fine...
