Well pets I guess they will be. I was hoping to let the girls use them as a start for the 4-H. Guess that wont be happening. I was also hoping to use on to breed to my showgirl but I am thinking that should not be done either

. So one of the boys atleast is going to have to find a new home I cant have 500 pet roos and 5 hens lol!!

Get them some frizzle cochin hens! They already have the straight comb- why not keep going and make some sizzles? My daughter is just starting out with her own birds- and that's what we did. LOVE them!

Your girls can still use them for showmanship classes! They do not focus on the faults of the birds there...it is all about handling.
And I think they are adorable! I would not use them at all for breeding BTW but there is no reason why they couldn't make great pets used for showmanship!

you know, i haven't really been all that drawn to the silky breed, but these guys with the combs are too cute... i don't know why that makes a difference for me, but i've never seen it, and never wanted a silky until i saw these 2... and i wasn't fond of all the black skin and stuff... but the one with the black comb... oohh i'd take him home in a heartbeat...
if you keep them and end up wanting to breed them i'd buy some of the eggs in hopes to get one with a comb like that...

I like the straight comb too. The walnut comb on silkie roos is repelling to me. Never liked them until I got a sizzle roo with a single comb. I didn't know sizzles were supposed to have walnut comb. Hmmmm-guess I'll just sell any babies that have that and keep the ones that don't.

Now there's something different- keeping your culls!

If you were closer I would say come pick them up

. I have no idea what to do with them. I am not going to Cull just hope to rehome them! Or atleast one! As far as Showmanship goes I would use them for that but the girls have the most tame Showgirl in the world. Walk up pick her up carry her around doesnt move loves her people!!

So, you're saying you will happily take single-combed silkie culls?

lol.. if they are as cute as that guy, sure... granted i can't take like 10 of them, but 1 or 3 ... especially if they just magically show up at my door... i actually applied for a job today.. lol.. i need extra $ to support this habit.. lol... i need eggs shipped from here and there for this and that and i need to build chicken condos!! and chicken castles!! oohhh i need to make itty bitty tiaras!! w/ swarkovski crystals.... i wonder what i could do to keep them on.. lol..

you know, i have an aunt in upstate FL that would probly take them in if i called her.. esp if i told her they're kinda the odd balls... she takes in anything that needs a home... lol.... last i talked to ehr she was hatching abandoned duck eggs.. lol..
