Supreme Emu Got Technology

The size of emus is an oft-mentioned reason for not having them. Now let's see who's done their homework. If we could have dwarf emus re-created from a sample of their DNA, where would we get the sample?

Hummm, well if you get DNA from an average sized Emu, then that is what their genetic code would tell it to do, grow big, so you would have to mess with the genetic code to tell it to grow short...... if you find a mini emu, it's DNA might help tell why it grew shorter, but if it had regular sized parents then that code is their also...... sorry, I'm not good with this stuff.

Emu Hugger, apparently there's a stuffed dwarf emu in a natural history museum in France.

Supreme Emu

"It had darker plumage and was much smaller than other emus, with only half the weight of the mainland birds. It was about 140 cm (55 in) tall and weighed 23 kg (51 lb). The juveniles were grey, while the chicks were striped like other emus. They ate berries, grass and seaweed,[2] and they reportedly liked the shady area of lagoons and the shoreline.[3] Its taxonomy has been subject to much debate because of confusion with the Kangaroo Island Emu, and only was resolved in 1984 by Shane A. Parker.
[edit] Extinction

The King Island Emu was discovered by the Baudin expedition in 1802, and disappeared around the same time.[4] Two or three individuals were brought back to France in 1804 and were kept in captivity in the Jardin des Plantes, the last one dying in 1822. One of these last birds remains today as the sole surviving skin in the Muséum national d'Histoire naturelle. At the time of the death of the last captive bird, the species was long gone from King Island, having been killed off by hunting and, apparently, fires started by visiting sailors"

Poor things..... it would have been nice to have mini emus around....
