Poor buddy was probably dumped by someone who couldn't keep roosters. Biggest indicator of gender is his very large and red comb and wattles.

It's hard when you don't know how old it is, but I can't see any hackles or sickles yet.

Here are my two for comparison. The colouring is difficult to differentiate. Males are usually lighter.

This is my female hen and my male chick. They both look the same black/white colour ratio to me (except for the photo exposure).
He has more growing to do of course.

That and the gigantic red comb and wattles.

Lmaooo you got me there but I was just pointing out something completely defines the gender no question, some people still second-guess no matter how early/red/large comb and wattles are.
