Surprise chicks-- what the @#$%^ do I do NOW?

Tooo cute! I got my chicks at the end of february...they have been laying since July 26th. Maybe I will be lucky and get a broody..I have white leghorns, barred rocks, buff orps, Americaunas a black sexlink and a nh red.

They look like they will be just fine! Very cute

Did you end up candling the eggs?!

I don't think Mama will be content to stay in that little crate for a few weeks. Mine prefer being out in the grass & dirt, scratching & clucking to their chicks. They usually do a great job of keeping them together & protected from the elements and from the other chickens.

Maybe you could find some space for them to go out, at least during the day. Perhaps you could put that crate outside, and they could use it for a nest. You could still haul it all inside after dark, to play it safe while the chicks are so little.
