Actually, I didn't think about Salt and Pepper for the girls. Salt for the lighter colored one and Pepper for the darker one with the 'tude.

What a lovely surprise. My French Black Copper Marran hid her nest in the barn rafters and we heard it before we saw it. Had to move them all out to a secure pen before she decided to teach them to bungee jump without a bungee! Moving day went well and everyone is happy.

I think I had enough of chicks. They are cute at first, and then they grow up and constantly drain your pocket which in turn drains your soul...... they should have been put in the freezer section of my refrigerator when they were just eggs!

I was planning on hatching some from this batch later this year. They saved me the work. We’ll enjoy them while they are little and eat the cockerels when they get a bit bigger.

Hey guys, I just got back from a trip and being pretty sick, so I only just got to check on the babies today (my FIL has been feeding them). Looks like I lost one. It probably died and got buried in the wood chips that the mamas are constantly scratching around. I looked but I couldn't find it (unless my FIL found it and forgot to tell me). The other 4 are really lively. The mamas take good care of them. I'm amazed at how good they work together.
