surprise Extra eggs

Hi everyone.

I have 3 chickens in my backyard (19 weeks old) they have all recently started laying and are laying daily 3 eggs. But today I got 4 eggs so one has layed an extra egg. Has anyone else had a chicken lay 2 eggs in a day. What is the most they can lay in a day. I thought it was great that they laid 1 each day but this is just amazing.

Welcome to BYC. Sometimes when they first start to lay you'll get two eggs, especially with sex links and leghorns. They will eventually cut back to one egg a day.
