You really don't want him burning when it is windy! Goodbye to your house or your neighbor's.

Good luck with progress on your coop. I had only myself to nag me while building and I wasn't so subtle!

I understand the smoke issue. My neighbors (two separate ones) burned some things and the whole neighborhood smelled awful for days. It was enough to turn my stomach! Thank goodness the burn season is so short around here! that's great your dh is getting things ready to start the coop, you have to clear the area before you can start building. And if he gets a start this fall, maybe it'll be finished by spring. lol I thought our juvies would be in their finished coop by the time they arrived, and it's still not quite done--secure enough to move them out there, but I planned to make three pens and then the rest of the space would be used for tool and feed storage. Right now pallets are keeping them on one side of the coop while we try and get the pens built. They're only 9 weeks old now. lol (Good thing they're silkies and frizzles and don't fly or they'd be in everything anyway.)

My dh is a firefighter too (volunteer) but we seldom get fires in this area, an occasional grass fire in the summer (three house fires last winter--when we usually only see one a year at most--but because of his work schedule he missed them ALL!). Mostly our guys go on extrications at car accidents, but they have training twice a month, just in case.
