I am slightly addicted to hatching my own ducks.
At first it was a challenge, then once I got the kinks worked out, I think I have a pretty good hatch rate if the eggs are handled properly before setting... anyway, my mallard flock is taking a break from laying so I started looking else where for hatching eggs. I bid on ebay. I got an assortment, giant pekin, runner, and mutt eggs the lady said. I thought ok, something new to add to the pens. Well on day 19 I see a crack, oh no how did I break it. Wait a minute it's breaking out, its hatching early... Next think I know its a pointed beak breaking though... that's not a duck!!! One hatched and one still one the way... never know what you are gonna get... : )
I will post a pic of my funny looking "ducky" tomorrow...

That is not fair to keep us in suspense!! But since it happened on day 19 I am guessing chicken!

I was given some mixed eggs a while ago...But my suprise egg took a week longer to hatch. I got 7 Indian Runners and 1 Muscovy from those eggs....

Ok sorry for the suspense, the pictures aren't the greatest I took them with my phone this morning... I emailed the lady I got them from and she told me that they are probably Serama Chickens, the smallest breed in the world... I don't know anything about them, I had rhode island reds as a child, but it's been more than 20 years since I had any chickens... they are cute though : )

Seroma's are the one's you can keep in the house and they lay small eggs. They are so tiny oh my gosh how sweet!!! I hear they get no bigger than a soda pop can when grown you got some pet chickens there lol.

WHat color are there legs? In the second pic the bottom chick looks like it has cheecks...if they have a greenish color legs then I would guess they are EE. (Easter Eggers).

I have a friend who got a baby goose [gossling?] in with an order of baby chickens from a hatchery. your little serama chicks are very cute.

My old Serama rooster was the sweetest, smallest, nicest little guy..i hope they are seramas! they're very loveable birds!

If the egg was mistaken for a duck egg though i would guess theyre Not seramas, since they have such small eggs.

They have flesh colored legs...

and I didn't think the eggs were all that small, not tiny any way. Smaller than my mallard eggs though.

I got another Ebay purchase today, I got 6 Cayuga eggs and this lady threw in 6 more eggs I have no idea what they are. The eggs are different shapes and sizes from a peach color to a reddish brown. I am guessing chicken eggs, but not sure. Two of them have EE on them. What does that mean?

Even if they are the little chickens, I am not too sure about the keeping them in the house. Can they live outside like normal chickens? My husband isn't fond of all my pets, I know there will be no chickens in the house...
