Hi, just wanted to give an update on my babies. They run around everywhere, especially around Fred, my free range Brahma roo.(he's the only chicken that free ranges) He's not the dad, but he stands over them and protects them like a proud pappa, he even shares his treats with them.

They are 4 weeks old today !!

:thumbsup
They never know if they are the dad, and hens never really know if they're the mom. They just hatch eggs and they don't know who laid them. But I've had great luck with cockerels and roosters caring for chicks. They're doing their main job as flock protectors.

They fit through the fence, so Fred takes care of them outside the fence, and Gator and Cajun takes care of them inside. They sure are fun to watch.:pop Everyone has there own personality.:ya

SAD! :hitSAD!:hitSAD!:hitI heard my hens fussing, so I went out to check, nothing serious, just roo trying to mount. But they scared Lucky, she went running through the fence into my shepherds mouth. Literally, he was laying there panting, she came through the fence right into his mouth. He closed and broke her neck.:hitIt happened so fast, no time to do anything. :hit:hit:hit:hit:hit:hit:hit:hit:hit:hit:hit:hit:hit:hit
