Surprising my wife with chickens in Seattle

Greetings, all!
Well, my wife has been asking for chickens for quite some time now, so I've secretly made a small brooder, purchased 4 chicks, and I unveil them on sunday! (anniversary of our first date)

So... for a while, I'm on my own.

BTW, what kind of chicks?
Built the coop yet? They can only stay in the brooder for a few weeks before they bust out and take over the place

How sweet. You will both enjoy the chicks. The next project is making a coop together.

But I wouldn't be surprised if those chicks give you away with their peeping unless a friend keeping them for you untill the unveiling.

Hah, well I think I'm also on my own with the coop. I used to be a carpenter, so that'll be my little project! no complaints though. I love my projects!

Well, I have not built the coop yet but I do have a general idea of what to do. (hard to surprise her if I have the coop built!)
Yesterday, I got one each of:
Rhode Island Rd
Golden Sex Link
Barred Rock
Brown Leghorn

On Monday, I plan to return and get a Modeled Houdan for kicks!

Hmm, Would silkies do well in this Seattle climate? It does get well below freezing from time to time in the winter.
