So far I've had healthier chicks from buying from a hatchery. I've never had a hatchery chicks in quarantine get a bad sickness but I've had a large amount of chicks from different breeders that have died or I've had to cull. The breeders chickens normally look more towards the breed standards but I have had bad luck with them health wise. I wonder if this is due to the fact that many of the breeders show their birds and they pick diseases at the show and drag it home? Or if they are breeding for conformation and forgetting about hardiness. Not sure why I've had such bad experiences with breeders...may just have picked the wrong ones.
