Niko woke up early and decided to go hunting. He raced to the open felid. He sniffed around. He smelled elk. He went to the river and found 6 female elk and 1 male. He knew males were dangerous. He stalked one very young calf. He eased up on it and striked. He grabbed its neck an the rest fled. His back was to the herd. He eventually killed the calf and suddenly Niko heard hooves beating. He turned around to late. The bull elk had empaled him in his side. Before he knew it the bull was gone, out of sight. He couldn't move more the less howl. He laid there half dead.

Silver stayed asleep for a while, but woke up later. She got up and walked to the entrance of the den- and saw Nico wasn't there
 
He tried to make the faintest noise. He looked at his side. It was bleeding heavily. He laid his head down and started to slip away.

Lilly had been tracking the elk and found him. She paused a moment then grabbed some moss and cobwebs, "Hello" She said coming over to help him as much as she could. Once she had covered the wounds she raised her head to howl for help.
 
Lilly smiled at him and checked the moss and cobwebs on him. She glanced around for anyone responding to her howl.
 
Niko moved his back paw as if to tell her something. "He pointe it back to the direction he came from. He grunted "Sil-" he coughed. "-ver."
 
Lilly looked that way "Silver? You want me to bring Silver here?" She asked and looked back to him to be sure, already standing
