Harli lay in the nest, damp with sweat and panting hard. Three (right? three?) pups squirmed around her belly, mewling hungrily. Harli let her head drop on her paws, closing her eyes. She opened them right after though, shooting Jargo a triumphant look.

Raven looked over her shoulder at the Alpha, ran back, and gave her a hug. "Thanks, affla Cerise," she said quietly before scampering after her sister. She looked at Jiyaken and Jade and knew she was in trouble. Tucking her tail, she scurried down the rest of the way.



Dixie nodded to Scarlet and looked at Mystery. "Feel up to doing this again?" she joked.

Jiyaken spotted them half way down the junk pile, looking cross once he realized they were fine. He watched them approach, his gaze stern and his expression hard. "An' where have yeh bin, gals?" he asked, looking between the two of them for a response.

Minty, her head and tail drooping, shuffled her paws. "I-I wan'ed to see the affla den an'... An' I asked Raven to come with," she admitted quietly.

Jiyaken's expression softened, though he maintained an authoritative look as he stood over the two. "Why don' we go back to yer parents' den, eh? Yeh can play inside 'til yer ma 'n dad get 'ome." He motioned for the girls to lead the way, then looked sympathetically toward Jade. "Sorry, lad, looks like we're goin' inside fer a while," he said with a sigh, hoping the pup wasn't too disappointed.



Mystery smiled to her, remembering long ago when they were in Golden pack and had carried the she-dog, Ivory, to their medical dog, Swampson. Thinking back, it was hard to believe how far they had come. Those were the days... His smile faded a bit as he wondered briefly how Swampson and Sonya and the other Golden pack dogs were doing now... Then, he shook his head, bringing himself back to the present. "Of course," he replied at last, and he hauled the reddish she-dog part of the way up onto his back. It would be no task for him to carry the she-dog himself, but... He looked to Dixie with yet another smile. Why not share the task, for old times' sake?
