Sonya nodded in response to Stone, smiling gratefully. "Father needs help getting back to the den," she said quietly.

"I'm fine," grumped Swampson, getting wearily to his feet, though the effort of that simple motion had him out of breath. "Now let's get these lassies back home 'n safe," he said to Stone, hobbling off with stubborn determination.

Sonya frowned and shook her head, but followed her father. "What are we going to tell Endigo?" she asked timidly, looking to her father and then to Hollyleap.
 
Sonya nodded in understanding, though she still looked as if she didn't feel right about the whole thing. After all, they had helped their pack's worst enemy, and even worse than that, they gave him heirs! Her ears drooped and she let her head hang in shame.

Swampson had a grim look on his face. "Besides that, girl, if'n Endigo wants t'a know what went on o'er there, then 'o course we'll tell 'im," he replied. He had no problems with his work, and he'd have a thing or two to tell Endigo if he had a problem.
 
Sonya looked up in time to catch most of what Hollyleap said. "Yeah, I suppose," she said, offering a smile in spite of her mixed feelings.

Before long, they reached the church den, where Swampson rounded on Sonya and gave her a sharp look. "I'm gonna go get some rest. I don't want ya goin' anywhere alone, ya hear?" he ordered. He couldn't have something happening to her again. She was deaf, practically helpless when she was on her own. That was the only reason Jargo got her, Swampson was sure.

He turned to Hollyleap. "Now, why don't ya stick with Sonya and th' two of ya can practice yer medical knowledge, alright?" He didn't give Hollyleap the chance to respond, nodding firmly and then turning and vanishing into the church den.

Sonya looked to Hollyleap with a shy smile on her maw. "You don't have to if you don't want to. I'll be fine," she said timidly, not wanting Hollyleap to feel obligated to stick around.
