"Okay. One hint: No more Jargo!" Rex said, looking at Melanie. He grinned.

"Wait, what?!" Melanie cried, dancing beside him. "What do you mean?!" She begged, nudging him.
"Oh good, I hate that guy." Flag snarled, curling his tiny lip. Paisley beamed. "He scared me!"

Endigo nodded to Faith, letting her know that she was free to go. Then he led the way to the den where Sonya was. "Come on, Mr. Grumpy Gills; if you want to see your daughter, you're gonna have to keep up." he grinned.

Swampson limped after him, doing his best to keep up. "Why you uppity young... I ain't as young as I used t'a be!" he replied, though he shook his head in a way that said he took it lightly. As he worked to keep up, he glanced around to take in the scenery. Nice place... Swampson could already see plentiful spring plants coming in in patches. "So Sonya, she's doin' well here?" he asked, sounding more like a caring father than his usual grumpiness.

Faith watched them go, then turned to Taj. "Let's move. I don't want to overstay our welcome." She headed off, with Taj tagging along behind her. "I'm gonna miss the old dude..." Faith heard Taj lament as they went. But Faith just shook her head and kept walking.

Melanie stopped, her ears pinned. She growled. "What are you trying to do? Get us killed?!" She turned, and shoved her pups away from the border, glaring at her mate.

"Good," Swampson replied immediately. "So are we gettin' near yet?" he asked, sounding sharp again. After all, he had a reputation to upkeep.



Sonya was waiting outside the church den for Endigo to return. She almost couldn't believe that her father had escaped the pound with Endigo. But what had he meant, 'he got clobbered in the fight'? She frowned at her paws, her stomach churning with worry. Her father was much too old to fight. What if... What if he had--She gasped, looking up at that thought, staring wide-eyed into space. She just couldn't finish that thought!
