Quote: Raven squealed and flailed as Mystery carried her to Saffron. "No, Daddy, no! I'm fine, see?" she said, dropping free at last and trying to walk on the ground. At the feel of the pebbles and dirt sinking into her wound, she blood seeping out onto the ground, she wailed with pain. She was obviously not fine!

Saffron approached, cool and calm, though her expression changed slightly as she saw the pup's blood-soaked paw. "Oh dear," she said quietly. "Looks like she got in some trouble, huh?" she added, lifting Raven off the ground without Mystery's consent to see to it that the pup didn't get her wound even more dirty.

Carrying the pup into her den, she concluded her sentence with a curt, "Follow me."

(True, true...)

Mystery nodded, trying to keep his cool as he did. He was not good in emergency situations, though he felt like he was improving the longer he had to care for these pups. He followed Saffron into her den anxiously, glancing around. Mantis wasn't there with that she-dog he had found. Saffron must have gotten her healed up at last, Mystery thought. And then his mind moved back to his daughter, and looking anxious, he stood back so Saffron could work. He wanted to ask her how bad it was, though his eyes moved to Raven and he decided against it for fear it would traumatize the pup. Instead, he offered his daughter a comforting smile and said, "You be good for Saffron, okay? I'll be right here if you need me."

Quote: Raven nodded, small tears running down her little black cheeks. Saffron sighed as she returned with a few herbs. She chewed them into poultices and layered them onto the pup's pad before winding cobwebs around it to hold it in place. Her work was done swiftly and she was silent as she did so.

Finally carrying the pup up to Mystery, she said, "Just keep her off that paw and she'll be just fine." Kneeling down beside the pup, she said, "You're gonna be just fine, sweetie! I hope you've learned not to play with cans,"

Meanwhile, Dixie had rounded up her remaining pups, made sure that they had their toys, and was now hurriedly leaving the den. She'd made a point of casting a firm gaze at Morado, warning him not to get to comfy with her, though she wondered if she'd gotten her message across. (I completely forgot about Dixie! XD)

Mystery sighed with relief, crouching down and nuzzling his daughter before looking to Saffron. "Yes, will do," he replied. "Is there something you'd like to say to Saffron?" he asked, nudging Raven encouragingly.

Morado saw the look and backed off with a shrug. He really needed to get back to digging, anyway. Nodding to the family as they left, he shrugged and trotted deeper into the mines.

Minty went racing after her ball as it rolled out of the mine and down the junk pile to the ground. Landing on it for just a moment, she let out a small 'oof' as the ball rolled out from under her and she ended up with her chin to the ground. Her eyes locked on her new toy, she crouched playfully, then darted after it, trying her hardest to get the ball to cooperate for her to pick it up.

Quote: Raven looked up at Saffron with her big, brown eyes and mumbled, "Thanks, Saffron," before limping behind Mystery's leg, far too shy to do anything else.

Dixie led the pups back to the den, smiling warmly as she watched Minty play. She noticed that Jade was flinging his chewy toy about wildly and was yipping with delight when it squeaked. "Momma, Momma, listen!" he commanded. Dixie nearly fainted with shock at his words. He was speaking! She smiled at him and nodded. "That's wonderful, sweetie!" she said in delight.

(Sorry I didn't see your post earlier XD )

Taz smiled, touching his nose to the two small bundles. "I don't know... you name one while I think of a name," he replied sitting down.
Ella smiled. "Well, I want to call the girl Nellie," she said quietly.

Sylver lifted her dainty head, searching the territory for prey. Lately, her hunting attempts had been unfruitful, and to be frank, she was going hungry. She had given all of the food she caught to the female dogs with pups, and kept almost nothing for herself. As a result, her ribs showed through her fur plain as day, though she hid it well. She avoided going near the alphas as if she was infected with an incurable illness. Rising her her paws from her crouched position, she started forward to the koi pond. Once she got there she lowered her head to drink, sucking in large gulps. She sifted her eyes to look out over the clear water, and like a wave, memories began to flood back. Memories of Taj, Ella, and the days when she was new to the pack. She missed all of it. Pulling her muzzle from the water she sat down, mulling over the scarce prey.

Mystery smiled to his daughter, leading the way back to their den and nudging her inside. He trotted over to Dixie and sat by her, sighing lightly. "Saffron says just to keep her off that paw to let it heal," he said to her, nodding toward Raven as he did. Then his eyes moved to Minty, who was still playing with her new ball as if it was the best thing in the world. Chuckling and shaking his head, he leaned into Dixie's side and settled in to watch the kids.
