Sylver lifted her dainty head, searching the territory for prey. Lately, her hunting attempts had been unfruitful, and to be frank, she was going hungry. She had given all of the food she caught to the female dogs with pups, and kept almost nothing for herself. As a result, her ribs showed through her fur plain as day, though she hid it well. She avoided going near the alphas as if she was infected with an incurable illness. Rising her her paws from her crouched position, she started forward to the koi pond. Once she got there she lowered her head to drink, sucking in large gulps. She sifted her eyes to look out over the clear water, and like a wave, memories began to flood back. Memories of Taj, Ella, and the days when she was new to the pack. She missed all of it. Pulling her muzzle from the water she sat down, mulling over the scarce prey.

A ripple spread out across the surface of the pond, and at its point of origin, Taj's head broke the surface, just up to his nostrils. He had been having a blast! In the past weeks, he had done everything he could--with some advise from the medical dog, Grimm--and at last he could swim like the self-proclaimed master he was.

His eyes fell on Sylver as he approached the shore, and a smile crossed his maw, just beneath the water's surface. With a sharp kick, he flipped to his back, paddling with his hind legs as he propelled backwards on his way. "Hey, Sylv," he greeted as he approached the shore. "'Sup?" He grinned rather stupidly, washing ashore and just laying there on his back with his eyes on the silvery she-dog.

Sylver stumbled backwards, a broad smile on her maw. "Oh! Hey, Taj." she laughed, nosing water in his direction. "Swimming again, huh?" she smiled, sitting down.

"Sure am," Taj replied enthusiastically, rolling to his paws at last. Shaking off a bit, he trotted out of the water and sat on the shore near Sylver. "So what's goin' on?" he asked, having noticed her rather thoughtful expression before, and how thin she had gotten lately.

Sylver's smile dulled at his question, clearly not wanting to explain. "Oh, um, nothing Taj, I've just been thinking... about how scarce prey has been." she twisted her lips at this, furrowing her brows.

(I don't know.

I made a post on Kage and Indigopack, but it must've either been skipped or it didn't post.)
