"Yeah. And you know what that comes from? Lack of loyalty. You treat your pack like crap, and then expect them to stay with you when they have chances like that?"

"My pack is lower than me! That sniveling Del Endigo thinks himself equal with his pack, and that's why he does such a crappy job of..." Jargo trailed off. He realized that Endigo hadn't done anything crappy. Endigo had beaten him, gained the trust of Negro Pack, and had a lot of pack and land to show off."Yeah. And you know what that comes from? Lack of loyalty. You treat your pack like crap, and then expect them to stay with you when they have chances like that?"
Mutt lifted his head and growled to the old dog, "Hey, old timer, what do you think you're doing waking us up in the middle of the night?" Mutt kept half his face concealed, but still looked at Swampson with the other half.((Awesome.))![]()
Time had passed and it was now long after dark. Swampson looked up from his bed in the office building and out the window. It must have been close to midnight. It was time.
He stood and looked around. The humans had mostly left, with just one man as a guard sitting at a desk nearby. He was fast asleep, snoring so loud that he probably wouldn't hear Swampson open the door.
Swampson left the office building and headed to the kennel building, silently opening its door and shutting it behind him. It was dark, and judging by the sound of it, there wasn't a dog awake at this hour. Why would there be?
He trotted along the rows of cages until he reached the one within which his beloved daughter snoozed. Whispering would do no good, and so he carefully nosed the latch on the cage until it fell loose. Slipping inside, he nudged Sonya until she looked up at him, bleary-eyed but awake enough to pay attention.
"Let's go," he uttered, slipping back out of the cage.
Sonya stood and stretched, then shook off. It was then that it occurred to her what was going on. "Oh, dad! Can't I please help the others, too?" she whispered.
Swampson's nose wrinkled and he let his ears fall back a bit. "Sonya, I thought I told you no." But she gave him the puppy-dog eyes and he released a strained sigh. "Fine." He ran over to the door of the building and stood on his hind legs to flip on the light. The only human around was a building away, and so he felt pretty confident being as loud as he pleased.
"Rise and shine, everyone! Get yer tails in gear!" he barked, walking slowly along the cages back toward Sonya.
Jargo growled. "What could you possibly know about my"---Jargo was about to say 'brother', but realized that Blue didn't need to know that---"...er, enemy that I do not? From what I know, Endigo's pack or his mate are his only weaknesses!""That's right," Blue snickered. "But, I do know Endigo's weakness..." Blue suddenly had an idea.
Jargo growled. "What could you possibly know about my"---Jargo was about to say 'brother', but realized that Blue didn't need to know that---"...er, enemy that I do not? From what I know, Endigo's pack or his mate are his only weaknesses!"
Jargo sneered. At last, a remark where he could get a good comeback in. "Oh yeah? Well, for your information, I have a spy in Golden Pack! Now didn't you learn something new today!""You know, I could give it to you... I have spies you know," Blue winked.
