"I was cornered in a den, kept prisoner by Jargo. I had started taunting this dumb lug of a dog, and when he got mad, we started fighting. Finally, I knew I was losing; I had wounds and he didn't. I bolted, but because he was so big, he couldn't catch me. So, I got here." Endigo said, wheezing for breath.

Everest began to lick his wounds, smiling. "You are so clever." He winked.

Rex nuzzled her. "They're beautiful." he smiled.

Melanie looked up at him. "Is it true? You'll help me raise them?" She asked, her voice weak.

Hollyleap looked at them. Stone and Hollyleap looked at each other. "I wish they didn't have to hate Goldenpack. That's where we are going" Hollyleap said, her voice barely a whisper.

Jargo led the dogs that would follow out of the den. He wanted to take Golden Pack NOW! "Harli, follow me! All who care to follow, come along to victory!"

Jargo promised things he couldn't guarantee.

Melanie nodded emphatically, then flopped on the ground whining loudly.
