Something got into my baby chicks grow out coop last night. We have been having trouble with skunks getting into the adult coops and eating eggs or the occasional decapitation of a chicken. We have been able to eliminate most but one continues to evade us. Last night's predator does not seem to be a skunk because cages are suspended about 3 feet in the air. We are thinking maybe a dog/cat because of bite wound on one of the survivors. I went outside and found this morning by chicks cage toppled over and on the ground and to my surprise I found 2 survivors. One of them is perfectly fine with no apparent trauma. She escaped the predator somehow. The other was not so lucky. It has a puncture on the face near the bottom where its lower part of the beak should be. The bottom part of the beak is completely missing. The only thing left is tongue and top part of the beak. What can I do to help him? He is very active. Tries to drink and eat but I don't know that its getting anything down. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
