Sushi at kroger

Yep! There was a dude in a white hat making fresh sushi and giving out samples. I have never even wanted to try it before but for some reason when the smiling chef in the hat offered me some in a sweet "here is a wonderful gift" kinda of way I found myself poppin a piece of raw fish in my mouth and saying a silent prayer that I would not be disgraced and puke in Kroger.

It was shrimp, crab, seaweed, avocado and rice. It wasn't half bad.
This chef guy in the hat somehow talked me into buying a tray of Sushi. I can not bring myself to try the Tuna and Salmon. It looks like fish bait. The crab and shrimp are good.

Oh and the green "dip" on the tray is not avocado. I like avocado. My mouth is still burning.

You really should try the salmon. Very good. IMO much better than the rolls.

Good for you for trying it! I love LOVE sushi. I used to turn my nose up at it but have developed a love for it. Did you know that sushi refers to the way the rice is cooked, rather than that it has raw or cooked fish in/on it?

Intro to sushi: California rolls (contains no raw fish)

Beginner's sushi: spicy tuna rolls (mixture of hot sauce, mayo & tuna... very delicious), and shrimp rolls (cooked)

Intermediate sushi: branch out to things like eel (which has a BBQ-like sauce on it), salmon, experiment with textures like tobiko (flying fish roe, similar in texture to sesame seeds)

Advanced sushi: Unagi (sea urchin roe - not my thing) and sashimi (just raw fish, no rice)

i LOVE sushi. (well, techinically sashimi) and get it at Meijer, Kroger etc all the time. the chefs are usually awesome and have to be REAL sushi chefs.

on a side note...i ate a WHOLE chunk of wasabi paste while pregnant once at a sushi and steak house on a dare. in one bite. i love the stuff. i could eat it like it was candy.

The shrimp and crab likely aren't raw.

Wasabi will fix up a clogged nose in no time. Avocado will cut the wasabi heat.

I like rainbow rolls, philly rolls, volcano rolls, spicy tuna rolls, dynamite rolls................heck i like them all

They had eel and baby octopus salad. I am not that brave yet.

I think I am going ot save the rest of the sushi for when the girls get off the school bus. I don't want to hog it all.
