These are six week old goslings.
Started them on different feed today, more like a ground product than a crumble. They had been eating a little whole wheat in water and also a little starter crumbles up to now. but mostly forage for the past few weeks. They do have access to grit.
I let them have the new food in a bowl where they could get at it all day today and this afternoon two had swollen necks. I noticed their heads were wet and they were hanging around the water and dipping their heads in a lot. Sometimes they were shaking their heads and water would fling out and occasionally one would spill out a big drool. One is looking better now, neck still kinda swollen but it was eating grass, still snorting out water though. The other stays by the water and its whole front is soggy. I've picked it up and massaged it's neck a lot, seems to like it. The neck has that feeling like a loose bag of water, not tight or hard. They are both on their feet and moving OK.
I suspect the new feed got packed into their esophogus and is blocking the water. They are probably thirsty and very uncomfortable.
What can do to help them?
Thanks for any help.
