Suspected EYP

A single dose of 50 mg/kg will treat large roundworms and cecal worms, but will not treat capillary worm. If mine, I would give 25-50 mg/kg for 5 consecutive days. The one I treated I actually gave albendazole 3 consecutive days.

If you decide to give it, give 250 mg twice a day.

Corid drench :thumbsup And fluids :thumbsup
Okay. I'll hit her 5 days in a row with the safeguard.
Thanks for the dosing info on the amoxicillin.

Terminal reproductive problem.

I have seen *many* like this, this is not always terminal. The color of the urates in this can be caused by dehydration or infection and the slimy green stuff can be from starvation or infection.

I also hydrated initially, since mine was not eating or drinking. On the second day she started drinking on her own, didn't start eating well until the 3rd/4th day. Using Corid won't hurt anything, sometimes I do the same when it's really a mystery what's going on. If it's not going to hurt, and it might help, then I figure it's worth a shot. Especially when death is the other option anyway. I have a history of parasites in my flock, I worm regularly, but have become so familiar with it in mine that it's always suspect here. I have had very sick birds from worms, so that is what I did first. This is not the first time I've had a secondary infection due to a worm load, which since she has recovered so well, is what I suspect happened with her. The rest of my flock is fine, she's one of my older birds, so maybe her immune system is just getting weaker, maybe just a 'freak' thing, maybe she found the spot in the yard that was the motherlode of worm eggs.
Dose of amoxicillin is up to 250mg twice a day. That's what I gave, I have found amoxicillin to be very well tolerated over all. Since she wasn't eating or drinking, I gave it mixed in coconut oil. Empty the capsule into a small bowl, mix in a little soft coconut oil, refrigerate or freeze until firm, and then you can give like a custom pill, break it into peices if necessary. It usually goes down easy this way. It doesn't disolve well in water, so syringing it usually ends up with a clogged syringe or stuff left behind. When I have a bird on it I will make up the whole series of doses and freeze them until ready to use, just easier for me. And the coconut oil I figure will help with getting things moving along as well, and they usually like it.

Exactly how many dying chickens have you got?
I've seen poop like this twice in a decade. Both hens died.
The picture in question was poop from a hen who died from internal laying. She even went to a vet and worms and coccidia were ruled out.
The sensible thing to do is to rule out what one can with a fecal float. Then you won't be administering unnecessary drugs which may interfere with a recovery if it's possible.

Yes, I have seen that too. Obviously we all have to do what we think is safe, I've used that dose also, just depends on how severe the illness has been in mine. I've not had any bad reactions from using the higher dose.
Dose recommendation seems to vary greatly, this is from Plumbs:
!!Birds:
For susceptible infections:
a) For most species: 150 – 175 mg/kg PO once to twice daily (using
50 mg/mL suspension) (Clubb 1986)
b) 100 mg/kg q8h PO (Bauck and Hoefer 1993)
c) 100 mg/kg q8h, IM, SC, PO (Hoeffer 1995)
d) Ratites: 15 – 22 mg/kg PO twice daily; in drinking water: 250
mg/gallon for 3 – 5 days (Jenson 1998)

She's still eating just not a lot. I usually put their de-wormer doses in bread and they readily eat that.
She took her calcium last night mixed in veggie baby food.
I'll get it in her one way or another!

You said you gave her a warm bath soak... did you use epson salts? If a hen drinks epsom salts water, they’ll have diarrhea. Not like youve pictured, when my hens do it’s straight gritty brown poop, but it might contribute to your current situation if you did.

No salt. It was plain water... until she pooped in it.
