I'm calling my NHRed "pullet" HE right now, based on comb size, head spot, and little black on his legs. Plus now, he does this thing where he charges across and chest-bumps into the crowd. I don't know if he's a roo, but is this a roo thing? No one else seems to do this. This would be one more thing that leans me toward roo for this one. Thanks--this is all new, but so interesting!

Can only speak to the bump stuff. They all do it male/female. It is how they establish pecking order. I did read on one of the threads to push them apart when they do this (not roughly) to show that you are the head rooster to start establishing your dominance. Interesting to read about if you are wanting to establish yourself with your flock.

Thanks. I do "intervene" with a little finger shove when things get a little "bumpy" in there. I have 6 kids, so I guess it's just my instinct to break things up when the roughhousing starts

Thanks for the tip!
