A friend asked if we could rehome 5 hens. Shows up with 5 hens and a rooster. Def well kept and loved 'Speckled hens'. But I already have the love of my life rooster. He is a great Delaware and is so great around my 4yo. Like a labradoodle of roosters.

So this little rooster shows up. I have 3 acres and an auto coop door. They have been separated and showing no aggression. Obviously these new hens are 1/3 of the size of my flock hens/roosters. Any chance they will stay happy separate in the yard and coop together?

What breed are they? I know the previous owner wanted a great home for them and I have it if everyone gets along. Otherwise guess I may be adding a separate coop for these 6.

Do you have other hens? Roosters can fight over the hens. If you are going to try to integrate the flocks I would do so slowly. You can use a 'see but can't touch' method behind a fenced in area. If you don't already have other hens 2 boys are 1 boy too many for just 5 hens.

My flock is down to two hands. Buff orpington and cuckoo maran. And I have nine pullets 4 weeks old right now inside my bruder getting ready to transition outside in a week or two. I just think these new hands are too tiny for my rooster to mess with. He's at least 4 times their size.

Whatever they are they are beautiful and that rooster is stunning! I don't think you would have a problem if you mixed the flocks slowly. If there was a squabble between roos I don't think it would last long and they will establish a dominance order. Just make sure they have some time to 'talk' to each other through a fence first and then when you integrate, make sure everyone has lots of room to escape and spread out. I would probably feed in 2-3 locations at a time as well, so they have some options and are less territorial. Or you could give those guys their own little coop and keep that breed going. I would 100% be interested in some hatching eggs :love How much do they weigh and how tall are they?

They are only 8 inches tall and weigh maybe a pound. Super tiny. All I know is they are some specialty breed. We shall see. Rooster is not even a foot tall.
