Sussex or Something Else?

When the white spots in these chicks started showing up I thought for sure they were speckled Sussex. They're two or three months old now and what confuses me is that they still have these brown patterned feathers in their back still. What's even more confusing is that the one I think is a roo isn't growing a tail but what I think is a hen, has one. Any thoughts on this? Here are some pictures.

The first three is the tailless roo and the last three is the pullet.

they are speckled sussex, they start growing in thier adult feathers at 3-4 months, thats when the mottled feathers will come in. Also, the rooster's pointed saddle(back) and hackle(neck) feathers will start coming in as well.
Sometimes the cockerals will feather in slower than pullets, so they can have bald spots and small tails when they're little. Looks like the first is a cockeral.
