They really don't. They just throw chicks in the brooders and call it good.Makes you wonder if they know what they're doing eh? lol.
This is the first time I've gotten chicks from TSC. My girls are 2 years old this year and was adding more to my flock but with the egg shortage combined with living in a small mountain town in CO just about everybody can have chicks so the chicks are gone within minutes and the local Coop isn't getting anything until April/May and maybe June. They really don't. She's a she. How old is she? If she was a rooster, her hackles would be pointier and shinier, her saddle would be longer and shiny, and her tail would be curled and shorter along with everything else- shiny. Hopefully that helps. Beautiful girl! This is my Buff Brahma, Holly; Need help determining if she's a hen or a rooster, I really do not want to to change her name to Harry![]()

THANK YOU! You just saved my life there! Not necessarily show quality but still beautiful! Don't know about how old she is. We got her around February 7th. Got her out of the sexed pullets binShe's a she. How old is she? There’s no reason to doubt she’s anything other than what she was sold as. Malines are incredibly rare and would never come from TSC, plus have feathered and pink legs. Amrocks are typically the European version of a Barred Rock. There is also no reason one would be at TSC. She has the traits of a Rustic Rock and was sold as one.View attachment 4148468
Finally, does anybody know what breed this chicken is? TSC said they were 'Rustic Rocks' but I think that she is a Amrock or a Malines (If you know if I'm talking about.) I just need to know what breed she is
