I've finally grown up enough to turn into my mother! Recently we've have settled on a little piece of land that will sustain our desire of a sustainable homestead. I'm one of 'those crunchy conservatives' that homeschool her children, has a garden and now we've embarked upon keeping chickens. My "ladies" are only 7/8 weeks old. My husband and I built the coop and finally got the girls outside just this week. I'm planning on letting them free range eventually, just trying to 'coop train' them. Which I believe I read on here somewhere. I've gotten a lot of good advice off this site and am truly grateful.
I have 8 pullets, 4 buff orpingtons, 2 black australorps and 2 silved laced wyandottes. I plan on using my flock for egg production only and later on would like to raise some cornish hens for meat. Now that the brooder is empty I'm looking for some to purchase.
Thanks in advance.

and Welcome To BYC! You might want to post in your state thread to see if anyone knows where to get cornishX locally
